Press conference about the recognition of the Marine Protected Area “Torre del Cerrano” as a SIC site (Site of Community Importance).

Yesterday 30 Sept 2010, a meeting organized by the MPA Management Association was held in the offices of the Marine Protected Area in Torre Cerrano.

On 23 and 24 September 2010, the ancient tower “Torre di Cerrano” will be the venue for the event “The Park of Tomorrow”: workshops, conferences and proposals for the Marine Protected Area, and finally a dinner party in the Tower.

“Torre di Cerrano” is a beautiful tower located in the heart of the Marine Protected Area. It has been overlooking the Adriatic coastal landscape since the XVI century.
When coming back home from a journey, how often have we seen its profile and, at the same moment, had  the pleasant feeling of being finally at home? Or how often have we looked at it and fantasized about its story?

Pineto, 24 August 2010. The Marine Protected Area “Torre del Cerrano”  was one of the protagonists of two local events: one is the “Notte Bianca”  in Silvi on 7 August, a city event characterized by all night long festivals, and the other one is  the feast in honour of Holy Mary on 23 August in Pineto.

For these occasions the MPA placed a stall in the central squares of both cities in order to welcome the visitors by offering them leaflets, pictures, videos about the Park and, what’s more, the possibility to taste local specialties.

Besides, the visitors had the chance to watch the presentation  of the new MPA website and to see the original T-shirts with the Park logo. They were also given all the information about guided tours in the ancient “Torre del Cerrano”.
